Athletic Team Sask wing Weir bringing multi-faceted talents to MacEwan next season

EDMONTON – Highly-sought after Team Saskatchewan recruit Judson Weir will bring his strong skill-set to the MacEwan Griffins men's basketball team next season, head coach Mike Connolly announced Tuesday.
Weir, a 6-foot-5 athletic wing from Regina, has the ability to make an immediate impact for the Griffins starting with his rookie Canada West season in 2024-25.
"We are excited to add another quality young player to our program," said Connolly. "Judson will have a great U SPORTS career. His ability to defend and rebound will allow him to see minutes immediately for the Griffins.
"He is a tough-nosed kid who has a great future and will add to our quality of depth in the back court."
Weir played for Team Saskatchewan at the U17 national championship last summer and is a product of the Sheldon-Williams Spartans on the high school circuit.
"He's a long, athletic 6-5 wing, so with his addition, we have more size on the wing and more athleticism," said Connolly. "In the open court, he's very entertaining, he's very athletic. He's another tough kid, who can shoot the three."
The Rise Above Basketball product is adept at all aspects of the hardcourt with a 2023 highlight video he posted to You Tube full of slam dunks, threes, jumpers, great passes, and blocks, giving an indication of what he'll be able to do once he joins the Griffins.
"He's one of the top recruits from Saskatchewan," said Connolly. "We're really happy to get him. He was a captain and leader on Team Sask. He's a good student. We won a couple of recruiting battles, which is kind of nice."
