EDMONTON – Bringing experience from five different junior teams in both the AJHL and BCHL, forward Myles Gauld will enter U SPORTS in 2025-26 with the MacEwan Griffins, bringing a versatile skill set that will allow him to thrive anywhere in the lineup.
Gauld was second in scoring on the Bonnyville Pontiacs last season with 21 goals and 49 points in 46 games, a mark that placed him in the top 20 in AJHL scoring.
"Part of my goal this off-season was to add to my forward depth," said Griffins head coach Zack Dailey. "I thought we had a lot of good forwards, but I want to continue adding depth to create competition for our lineup. He's someone who fills that mission. He put up over a point per game in the AJHL, but he played in all roles – a powerplay guy, penalty kill guy and was out last minute whether they're up or down a goal.
"So, he's kind of a jack of all trades and can play up and down the lineup."
After graduating from the Calgary Northstars and Buffaloes organizations and playing one AJHL game as an affiliate for the Whitecourt Wolverines in 2021-22, Gauld spend parts of two seasons with the Camrose Kodiaks and Pontiacs, while also playing for the Cowichan Valley Capitals and Okotoks Oilers of the BCHL. All total, he finished with 129 points in 169 junior games.
He likely slots in as a left wing for the Griffins, but certainly has the versatility to play anywhere up front.
"I think he's someone who can come in and help us right away," said Dailey. "He will add to the offence but is someone who we can depend on in all situations."
