2025-26 schedule: Griffins start Aug. 23 on road; home opener vs. Alberta set for Aug. 30

EDMONTON – An early start to the slate has the Griffins men's soccer team starting their 2025 season on the road Aug. 23 at Calgary, highlighting the full Canada West schedule released on Monday.
MacEwan's home opener is set for Aug. 30 vs. cross-town rival Alberta (2:30 p.m., Clarke Stadium, Canada West TV) as the Griffins aim to get off to a strong start in their bid to return to the playoffs for the first time since 2021.
"A new season means new chances — to push harder, play smarter, and grow stronger as a program," said Griffins head coach Adam Loga. "Every game is more than just 90 minutes; it's a chance to prove who we are, together."

The Griffins will play six of their seven home games in September – four at Edmonton Scottish (Saskatchewan – Sept. 6, Lethbridge – Sept. 7, Mount Royal – Sept. 27 and Calgary – Sept. 28) and two more at Clarke (Thompson Rivers – Sept. 20 and UBC Okanagan – Sept. 21).
They will need to crack the top four in the Canada West Prairie Division in order to make it to the Canada West quarterfinal/semifinal weekend, which is slated for Oct. 24-26.
The Canada West championship runs Oct. 31-Nov. 1 with the U SPORTS nationals scheduled for Nov. 6-9 in Toronto.
