MacEwan Athletics
EDMONTON – Continuing a strong tradition of success in the classroom, MacEwan Athletics is pleased to announce that a total of 77 Griffins student-athletes have been awarded U SPORTS Academic All Canadians for the 2024-25 season.
The honours go to student-athletes who achieved at least 3.3 on MacEwan's GPA scale of 4.0 and who consumed eligibility during the season.
It's the fourth-highest total of AACs MacEwan student athletes have received since the Griffins joined Canada West in 2014.
"We are so very proud of our 77 student-athletes earning Academic All-Canadian honours last year," said MacEwan Athletics Director Joel Mrak. "Their dedication to excelling at their respective sports and in the classroom is a testament to their hard work.
"The support from the coaches, faculty, and staff to balance the demands of our student-athletes makes all of this possible, so big thank you to them as well. Congratulations to each and every one of you for demonstrating that academic excellence and athletics commitment go hand in hand."
Highlighting the list of recipients is a group of five student-athletes – women's soccer's Nicole Noble and Grace Schimpf, women's volleyball's Danielle Jodoin, and men's volleyball's Jonah Karsten and Mason Moore – who can call themselves five-time U SPORTS Academic All Canadians.
They join an exclusive list of only 11 others in MacEwan history who've achieved the feat.
Both women's soccer and men's hockey led the way amongst MacEwan sports with 16 U SPORTS Academic All Canadians each.
