Three Stars: Laszlo, Presingular, Bryks earn honours
MacEwan Athletics
EDMONTON – Men's volleyball student-athlete Daylan Laszlo is the MacEwan Athletics first star of the week after averaging 3.83 kills/set on the road against U SPORTS No. 1 UBC.
In just his second weekend back from injury, Laszlo led the Griffins in kills both nights with 23 total in six sets.
Men's basketball point guard Diego Presingular and women's volleyball outside hitter Alyshia Bryks are the second and third stars, respectively.
It's the first Three Stars appearance of the 2025/26 season for Laszlo.
Presingular makes the list for the second time this season after previously being named third star on Nov. 12. Bryks is also making her second appearance after earning first-star honours Dec. 2.

It was truly a breakout weekend for Laszlo, who posted 23 combined kills over six sets against the No. 1 team in the country.
After missing a good chunk of the first semester due to an injury suffered against TRU when a player recklessly came under the net and landed on him, Laszlo knocked some rust off when he returned to action Jan. 9-10 against Winnipeg, setting the table for a solid series against UBC.
Despite going against players with junior national team experience, Laszlo gave the Griffins a chance with solid play not only on the attack, but by spearheading the team's improved passing.

Winnipeg, MB, second-year, Correctional Services
The Griffins had so many positive contributions in their landmark first-ever victory over the Calgary Dinos last Friday, but Presingular led the charge.
The electric point guard finished with a team-high 15 points., adding six assists, three rebounds and a steal as the Griffins knocked off the Dinos 93-84.
Among his key moments was hitting a three-pointer with 5:16 left in the game to extend MacEwan's lead from four to seven points. They never really looked back after that.
