EDMONTON – Though they'll face the toughest test anyone in U SPORTS has to kick off the 2025-26 campaign – staring down a season-opening road doubleheader at defending national champion Saskatchewan Oct. 24-25 – optimism reigns for the MacEwan Griffins women's basketball team.

The first opportunity for fans to see them at the David Atkinson Gym will be Oct. 31 for their home opener vs. Winnipeg (5 p.m., Canada West TV).
"As we look ahead to the 2025–26 season, we are excited to keep growing with this group of athletes," said Griffins head coach Katherine Adams. "We're ready to take the next step in what is always a tough and competitive Canada West conference, and we are looking forward to continuing to build those provincial and prairie rivalries that make Canada West competition so intense and rewarding."
